How Often Should Your Equine Business Be Posting On Social Media /

You might have heard us say it before, but quality and consistency should be top of the agenda when it comes to social media content. We’re often asked how often businesses should post on social media, and the short answer is: as regularly as you can consistently post valuable and meaningful content.

However, studies have shown the optimal posting frequencies for different platforms, so if the short answer above doesn’t satisfy you, we’re reporting on how often to post on the most popular social media networks.

INSTAGRAM

Studies suggest posting on Instagram 1-2 times per day, as this is what many major brands do. However, this may be more frequent than your business can generate content, so the most important rule with posting on Instagram is to post consistently and find a posting pattern that you can keep up with.

Checking your Instagram Insights can summarise your most successful posts (based on specified criteria such as ‘profile visits’) to help you see what your audience enjoys and create similar content

FACEBOOK

Facebook can be a confusing one, as different studies suggest different frequencies. Some say no more than 1 per day as this seems ‘spammy’ and others say at least 2 per day to increase reach.

The overall conclusion we’ve come to is 1 post per day, or 3 per week as a minimum, and 10 per week as a maximum. Again, it may be difficult to generate enough valuable content to post once a day, so try and aim for at least 3 times a week. Some suggest waiting until you have a greater audience before sharing twice a day.

PINTEREST

While Pinterest might not be for every business, brands tend to see the most growth when they pin 15-30 times a day, spreading these throughout the day. These can of course include pinning other people’s content, as well as your own. Try not to pin too many more than this, as Pinterest may mark your account as spam!

LINKEDIN

Posting on LinkedIn 20 times a month (or once every business day) is thought to reach 60% of your followers. We’d recommend sharing posts at least once a week to stay relevant and active on LinkedIn.

TWITTER

Again for Twitter, research varies quite a lot, anywhere from 1 to 50 tweets per day. Some even suggest there is no maximum. It’s down to you and your business to decide how active you’d like to be on Twitter, but for sound engagement we’d suggest 1-5 tweets per day.

TIKTOK

TikTok is increasingly being used by businesses as a fun way to increase engagement. Like most social media platforms, TikTok loves consistency, so begin with posting a few times a week and see if you can work up to 1-3 videos per day, rather than not posting at all and then tons the next day.
